I Need TiVo

It's a sad thing when "I'll dream of you" becomes a threat rather than the standard sweet goodnight.

My question is, what did people who suffered from poor sleep do before they invented television.

I don't think it was possible to suffer from poor sleep when you had spent all day exersizing by keeping up the farm, or ranch. I think sleep problems are a result of not enough physical activity.

That doesn't reflect all of the population, though, Craig. Good try, but especially with the increase of industrialization, the bourgeoisie kept growing and growing, and still...no television. What of the wealthy? What of the businessmen? And what of the people so upset that no amount of hard labor could lull them into unconsciousness?

Well, there was "Chilly Billy" double feature on weekends. That got you to about 3am Saturday night/Sunday morning. On other nights, TV rarely went past 2am.

But probably the biggest thing to do when you couldn't sleep was to listen to some of the all-night radio programs or maybe a baseball game when your team was playing on the West Coast.

Maybe that's why people started counting sheep.
